First of all, we would like to thank everyone that has been so supportive during Jack's cancer treatments. He has been given so many fun gifts and we appreciate all the help that has been given to our family. These first pics are just a few couple of things he has been given recently.
These Toy Story shorts are just one of several pairs of pj shorts and pants that were made just for him. They fit great and he loves them!
The backpack that he is wearing was given to him so that he would have a special bag to take to the hospital with him. He never lets me forget to fill it with his toys and make sure that we bring it to all of his appointments.
Now...for Memorial Day weekend we wanted to do something fun. We also wanted to do something special for Jack since his birthday was just a few days away. So we decided to go to Balboa Island in Newport Beach. We went down to the Balboa Fun Zone and walked around for a bit. We had a great lunch filled with chicken strips, fries, brisket, and of course Jack's favorite...COKE! There wasn't a whole lot for Jack to do, but he did get to smash a penny with a shark on it and play one of those claw game to win some candy. After lunch and walking around the Fun Zone, we went and walked by the beach and down the pier a little ways. Jack had so much fun standing on the pier and watching the waves. He thought the "bubbles" were just so funny. Of course Joey was just chillin during the whole thing and just enjoyed the sunshine. After we had our fun at the beach we went down to Toys R Us. Jack had been given some money to go pick out a toy so we gave him some time, and he ended up with another train.
Sunday was spent relaxing and hanging out as a family. Joey of course spent half the day rolling all over the floor, and Jack was begging to go outside and play with his ball and glove. So later in the day we went down the street to an open grassy area and let him play for a little bit. Playing catch turned into just running around, but at least he was able to get some energy out.
On Monday, Memorial Day, we started off by walking down the street to the donut shop and each getting a donut. Jack loves the ones with sprinkles, so that's what he picks every time. That evening we grilled a bunch of chicken, hot dogs, and hamburgers, and had our Memorial Day feast. We probably had almost enough food for an army, but we were able to to enjoy it for another few days!
Wednesday, the 29th, was Jack's 3rd birthday! We started the day by jumping out of bed and going up to the hospital for a lab appointment. Since it was his birthday they let him pick out a special toy and he chose the tool set. Once we got back from the appointment we had a couple hours to play and relax. At noon we met up with Kyle for a special birthday lunch at Round Table Pizza. Jack loves pizza so we thought it would be a fun treat. He enjoyed the pizza, but didn't like when Joey got too close to him while he was eating. After he had finished, he wanted to play in their mini arcade. He saw another claw game and won a ball! That was a good way to end lunch. When we got home it was time for a nap. That gave me time to make his cake. That night we had one of his favorite dinners, stroganoff. Then it was over to the living room to open presents. He was spoiled with all kinds of toys...a firehouse, firetruck and police car, the movie Winnie the Pooh, more cars, a big Mack Truck, pj's, and even his first bike! He of course wanted to play play play, then it was cake and ice cream, and off to bed. He had a fun birthday and was definitely spoiled again, but with everything he has gone through, he deserves to have a special day. We love our Jack and Joey and love to spend these special days with them.
