Camping at San Onofre

This past weekend our little family went on a mini vacation. We went down to San Onofre State Beach and camped for a night. The first day we got up and took our time getting down to our camp site. We parked our car, got the cooler and things for the beach, and took the trek down to the sand. Most of the beach had rocks, but we found a little area that had some sand and it was just enough for us to sit and relax, and for Jack to play. It was pretty cloudy the whole day, but it was warm enough to enjoy the day. We had to pack up a little earlier than we had planned because high tide was coming in. But we hiked back up to our campsite and set up for the evening. Our campsite wasn't as close to the beach as I had originally thought, but we still had a beautiful view of the ocean. After we got our tent and a couple of other things set up, we took Jack for a walk down past some of the other campsites. He was so worn out from playing on the beach that he fell asleep in the stroller. We got back to our site, started a fire, and got everything ready for dinner... good ole hot dogs and chips. And of course for dessert we had smores. Jack got a little cranky near the end of the evening, but after a little bit of relaxing by the fire, he fell asleep. Once the fire went out and we got Jack in his sleeping bag, Kyle and I played a few rounds of Phase 10 in our tent and then it was lights out.
The next morning we got up, had some muffins for breakfast while sitting and watching the waves, and then packed up the car. We took a little drive down the coast, and then came back up into town to see the movie Brave. It was Jack's first movie theater experience and he did pretty good. He wanted to leave a couple of times, but then he got back into the movie and his popcorn and M&M's and was fine. After the movie we went and got lunch and headed home.
We were all so tired that we took a nap as soon as we got in the door.
The weekend was really fun. It was quiet, relaxing, and I loved spending the time with my family. We didn't really travel that far, but it was nice to get away from the normal everyday stuff for a little bit. Hopefully we can make this a regular thing (except next time we will get an air mattress to sleep on!).

Packages from TN

Jack loves getting things in the mail. And recently, he has gotten 2 big packages from family in TN. The first package came after our visit to see my family and we had so many birthday gifts for Jack that we couldn't fit them all in my bag on the airplane. Once they all came in the mail, he didn't want to do anything except play with all of his new toys.

The second package came a few weeks later. First of all, Jack LOVES toy story. So...he got quite a surprise when all of the toy story gang were in a package just for him! Now he plays with the gang all day, everyday.

Jack's Birthday Party-CA

Last Saturday we were finally able to have a birthday party for Jack here in California. Yes, it was a little late, but it was still worth having. It was a Toy Story themed party up at the park, with a ball pit for the kids to play in. To stay with the theme, we had potato head goodie bags to decorate, alien cupcakes, and of course...Pizza Planet pizza (aka Little Caesars). It's impossible to have all of the little kids doing the same thing at the same time, but at least they seemed to be having fun. Jack also had a lot of helping hands opening his gifts. With that many little kids, it was very much a group effort. But the gifts were great and he is having so much fun playing with all of them. Thanks to everyone who came and made it a great party for little Jack!

Birthdays, Weddings, and Everything In Between

Ok, so to start everything off, Jack and I took a trip to Tennessee to see my family during the last week in May. We got there Sunday evening and on Monday, we had a great Memorial Day lunch and then had Jack's 2nd birthday party. His birthday was actually the next day, but with the crazy schedule of the week, Monday was the best day for the party. Mom and Nikki made and decorated an awesome baseball cake, and did a great job decorating the dining (party) room. So when party time came, we sang happy birthday, set the cake aside, and dove into the gifts. Since Jack is still little and has a short attention span, we had to hustle while opening each one. I thought we were going to lose him near the end, but after a quick break, it was down to the last gift. And it's a good thing the Mickey Mouse Fire Truck was the grand finale because the noise it made brought a smile on his face and he was back to enjoying the party. After a couple minutes of playing, it was time for cake! It was so good.
Alright... after cake, we all went outside and blew bubbles for all the boys. There were a few spills, but at least it was outside. There were also some small, soft baseballs that the boys were having fun throwing around. Overall, it was a great day and party.

Next... the whole week was spent preparing for Nikki's big day. On Friday, June 1st, her and Brian got married in the backyard. Nikki looked so beautiful and everything went so perfectly. There were a couple of scares the day before and that morning, but when the time came, it was just beautiful. The weather was great, all of the boys were behaving, and things ran pretty smoothly. The reception that night was just as nice. A lot of people came to congratulate Nikki and Brian, and the house (and yard) looked wonderful. The only downside was that people didn't eat enough! There was so much extra! But it was good the next day. Anyways, I am so excited for Nikki, Brian, and all the boys. They are now a family. Congratulations!!

Ok, next thing... One thing that I was trying my best to keep a secret until my 12 week appointment was that Kyle and I are expecting another baby! Yes, that's right. Jack is going to be a big brother. It was quite difficult to keep hidden in my bridesmaid dress at Nikki's wedding, but it's no secret anymore. The doctor says everything is looking and sounding great with the new baby and we look forward to seeing him/her right around Christmas.

Now, my final picture for this post may seem kind of random. But it is showing Jack's new haircut... by me! It's shorter than we are used to, but I like how it turned out. I'm sure it will get easier to cut with practice, but is sure does save some money with how fast his hair grows. So introducing the new Jack!
I sure think he's cute ;)

So now you are all caught up on what has been going on with the Pulido's. There sure has been a lot in the last few weeks, but it has all been great!
